OK, here we go. Sorry it took so long … (ha-ha).
I’m going to (try and) write about my own struggle with Procrastination (should it be capitalized?) and my attempts to get to grips with it. (For my own ease of use, and because I’m a little lazy, I’ll refer to it simply as “P” from now)
As - I think it was - Confucius said, every journey starts with the first step, and this is mine. By admitting I have a problem with time-wasting and bad time management, and committing to try and kill the bad habit and get more productive. (Welcome to “Procrastinators Anonymous”!)
How are you gonna do it, you may (or may not) ask? By starting and developing this very blog, , that’s how!
I acquired the domain a while ago and, typical, put off developing a website, until now. In this blog I will write not only about my own attempts to shake the P habit, but also include writings and advice by others more experienced and a lot smarter than me. Hopefully, we’ll all learn something along way.
But I’d hate to travel alone, so why don’t you join me on this (often) perilous journey into self-discovery, evaluation and improvement? Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to stand up and be counted, merely to read my blog and subscribe to it if you feel it is - or could be - worthwhile.
Right now my P strategy isn’t very structured yet (I still have to develop a plan), so I’ll start with posting some of my daily goals, successes and (God forbid!) failures.
So, today I set out to do and achieve the following:
- Finalize and customize the new theme of this blog;
- Find the missing wires and fittings of the broken DSL modem that has to be returned to Qwest, so I can give the box to the UPS guy;
- Sort through my (too many) websites and domains, prioritize, and decide which ones to sell-off to reduce my online clutter, so to speak.
Tomorrow, dear reader, I will report back whether these (to me) important milestones in my new journey have been achieved, or whether I failed. Dang, this new openness and commitment sucks!
